Be on the Management Committee. We respect that members of the
committee are living demanding lives. The Committee provides
opportunities to discover, learn, develop or extend the core
skills involved in management.

Host or be a "regular" at a coffee session in your
neighbourhood. This is an opportunity to welcome those new
to the area or new to the world of autism as you would have
wished to have been yourself.

Give telephone support to other parents through a national
support scheme (this involves training and support, some
directly from the NAS; expenses would be met). This an
opportunity to learn and apply the core skills involved
in supporting parents over the phone.

Contribute regularly to a support group or, as part of
a pair or small group, facilitate a support group.
(Facilitating would be supported and include training
opportunities). This is an opportunity to learn and
practice the core skills involved in providing informal
support in group settings.

Be a befriender or co-ordinate the Umbrella befriending
scheme (both involve training and support, some directly
from the NAS; expenses would be met). This is an
opportunity to learn and apply the core skills of
befriending.

Help to produce our Newsletter. This is an opportunity
to learn new or extend IT skills (e.g. publishing,
word processing). There are free training opportunities
for this.

Just want to help as and when you can --- no regular
commitment? Let us know you want to join our Help List
of people willing to be contacted when there's a
specific task that needs doing. You can always decline
if it's not a good time. We can keep you on the list
to contact again.
